AVIATION Ground Services has won two prestigious awards for excellence in provision of aircraft and cargo handling services in southern Africa and the entire African continent.

AGS, a private local firm received the award courtesy of South African airways after being named the best aircraft and cargo handlers.

It was also named overall winner in Africa, ahead of other aviation ground service providers contracted by Africa's biggest airline.

Commenting on the accolades, AGS managing director Mr Caleb Mudyawabikwa said it was a privilege to receive the awards considering they were judged among worthy peers.

He added it was proud to be associated with SAA, Africa's best airline which has also previously received major endorsements from renowned industry experts for excellence.

"Whenever you want to grow, you must thrive to do the best," said Mr Mudyawabikwa.

"We are in a business which is highly regulated and requires us to satisfy minimum standards. The awards highlight our determination to scale greater heights to become a leading aircraft and cargo handling services company in Africa."

SAA is one of the leading carriers in Africa, serving 26 destinations across the continent, as well as major destinations within South Africa and internationally from its Johannesburg hub.
