New board for Zimpapers
Published: 07 February 2014

The Zimbabwe Newspapers Group has appointed a new, 10-member board chaired by veteran civil servant and former Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Charles Utete, for a period of 5 years beginning February 1 this year.

Utete takes over from Paul Chimedza, who won the Gutu South constituency seat for Zanu-PF in last year's harmonised elections and was subsequently appointed Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care.

Only 3 members, Delma Lupepe, Nyasha Madzingira and Rungano Mbire were retained from the old board that had 3 other members - Chimedza, Retired Brigadier-General Epmarcus Kanhanga and Munyaradzi Kereke - resign to run for political office.

The new faces on the board are Doreen Sibanda (cultural expert and executive director of the National Art Gallery of Zimbabwe), Karen Dube (dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Lupane State University), Terrence Hussein (corporate lawyer), George Manyere banking and corporate finance executive), Felix Moyo (director of Information and Public Relations at the National University of Science and Technology), and Rejoice Nharaunda (a renowned entrepreneur).
