Zimpost repositions itself

Zimpost has strategically positioned itself as it embraces the fast paced technological era that almost rendered it extinct.

The introduction of social media platforms and other forms of technology that reduce the world into a global village almost pushed Zimpost into extinction.

The number of mail pieces being handled by Zimpost dwindled from 100 million in the year 2000 to the current 14 million.

In an effort to remain afloat the postal company has diversified and according to Zimpost Managing Director Dr Douglas Zimbango, in redefining and reinventing itself his organisation took into consideration the needs of its modern day clients.

"Postal offices the world over are diversifying and moving in line with technological advancements and we are no exception," said Dr Zimbango.

The new business model that has been employed by Zimpost ranges from offering money transfer services under the Zipcash.

They have found a service where people can recover their lost goods.

They have also moved into real estate agency services.

The unbundling of Post and Telecommunication (PTC) paved way to the formation of Zimpost, Net-One, Tel-One and Courier Connect.
