Edgars defies economic odds

Clothing retailer Edgars Stores recorded a 25 percent increase in merchandise sales to $62, 8 million in the year to December 31, 2017, from $50,3 million despite economic challenges.

Group chairperson Themba Sibanda said the retailer- whose profit for the year under review stood at $4,1 million up from $548 163 - managed to maintain margins at 43 percent.

The Edgars Chain recorded total sales were $39, 6 million from $33, 9 million as sales per square metre stood at $1 784 also up from $1 467 out of 26 stores.
