'MDC-T has failed Mufakose'

Published: 01 July 2018
FreeZim Congress Party candidate for Mufakose National Assembly seat Mr Desire Ncube says opposition MDC-T legislator Ms Paurina Mpariwa Gwanyanya has presided over regression in the constituency.

In an interview with The Sunday Mail last week, Mr Ncube said since the turn on the new millennium when MDC-T took control of the constituency, blocked sewer systems, burst water pipes, uncollected refuse and illegal vending had become the order of the day.

"MDC-T has been at the helm of Mufakose constituency for the past 18 years and everyone in Mufakose is in agreement that they did absolutely nothing in the area," he said.

"The people have requested me to facilitate the reopening of the community's once vibrate home industry, address community immediate needs by initiating small projects, and initiate an aggressive infrastructure development drive.

"I hope to engage in robust education enhancement and introduce a talent harnessing and nurturing scheme," said the former journalist.

Mr Ncube said the people of Mufakose would vote for him to revive Mufakose, and would reject politicians who only appeared come election time.

"A good leader is one with the ability to sift facts from fiction without that exploitative clandestine goal to exploit the society for personal, greedy, and immoral gain by taking advantage of people's ignorance, desperation, trust and belief invested in him as a leader," he said.

Mr Ncube said people in high-density settlements had for too long been "cursed and condemned to underdevelopment".

"This is what I desire to change," he said.

"I will focus on advocating basic standards enforcement like better conditions of living, basic commodity price controls, State assistance via subsidies, and access to bank financing like that enjoyed by those who live in low-density areas.

"I believe in education. I believe in rallying under our national flag and pray to our God to bless our one and only beautiful and blessed fatherland, Zimbabwe.

"My ambition is geared to usher in a political dispensational agenda with a vision to re-brand not only Mufakose constituency but my whole country Zimbabwe … in patriotic collaboration with fellow compatriots."

FreeZim Congress leader Mr Joseph Makamba is one of 23 people contesting the July 30, 2018 Presidential election.
