 Zimpapers introduces home delivery
Published: 14 June 2019
Zimpapers has launched a dial-a-number concept aimed at delivering newspapers to its customers at their homes in Harare and Bulawayo during weekends.

Zimpapers circulation manager Mrs Liz Mushonga yesterday said customers dial their given numbers to order a weekend paper, especially during this winter period. She said the order cut-off time is 0800 hours.

"Customer pays using our given number via EcoCash, then sends proof of payment and location via WhatsApp to order their required papers(s).

"The expected result is an increased uptake of our weekend papers by those who may not want to leave their houses in search of papers, especially on a cold winter morning," she said.

The company is set to start with Saturday Herald and Chronicle, and Sunday Mail and Sunday News. Mrs Mushonga added that they are running a pilot project this month.

"We are bringing convenience to our customers so that they do not miss out on a good read.

We keep improving on service delivery and encourage our customers to take up this initiative," she said.

The latest development also comes after Zimpapers entered into an agreement with Rubiem Zimbabwe for the supply and operation of a mobile news technology platform in February 2017.

The innovative technology platform enabled Zimpapers newspapers and radio content to be accessed by mobile phone subscribers. Zimpapers provides news onto the Rubiem platform which connects to the mobile networks.

For instance, a subscriber can dial #34445# or send an SMS with text "news" to 34445 to register for the service. The subscriber mobile account is then debited and the news delivered daily. The subscriber can stop the subscription any time.

This a new generation platform with world-class benefits, customer experience and choices for customers. The agreement was structured to cover all Zimpapers publications which can be packaged to offer affordable choices to different market segments.

For instance, there can be subscription for The Herald, Chronicle, The Sunday Mail, Kwayedza and HMetro.
