Mujuru daughter files for divorce

A DAUGHTER of vice president Joice Mujuru and the late general Solomon Mujuru has filed divorce papers against her husband of 19 years.

Chipo, who was married to Simbayi Sabastian Makoni since December 2000, told the court in the divorce papers filed this week that the marriage between the two had irretrievably broken down.

She said there are no prospects for restoration of a normal relationship between the two.

"The parties have not lived together as husband and wife for a continuous period of at least 12 months immediately before the commencement of this divorce action, parties are incompatible due to irreconcilable differences, parties have lost love for each other, parties have not shared conjugal rights for a period in excess of 12 months preceding this action."

She went on to demand $1 500 for maintenance of their two school-going children, claiming the money will go towards school fees, food, transport, clothes and the general upkeep of the children.

"When the parties separated in January 2017, they shared most of the moveable property they had acquired during the subsistence of their marriage, consequently plaintiff prays that each party retains the property in its possession as its sole and exclusive property," she said.

Chipo said during the subsistence of their marriage, the two acquired stand number 30 Dacombe Drive, Chisipite, Harare, which is registered under Nesial Trading (Private) Limited and number 22 Mcllaine Crescent, Lincoln Green, Belvedere, Harare.
