The Council of Churches in Africa (CCA) has extended birthday wishes to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, praying for his continued leadership as he celebrates his 83rd birthday.
President Mnangagwa marked the occasion in the Mapanzure area of Zvishavane, Midlands province on Tuesday. He is currently serving his second and final term, which is set to expire in 2028. However, the ruling Zanu-PF party is advocating for a possible extension of his tenure to 2030, in line with a resolution adopted at its 2024 annual conference.
In a congratulatory statement, CCA president Rocky Moyo commended Mnangagwa's dedication to the welfare of Zimbabweans and his efforts to foster national development and unity.
"As spiritual leaders, we recognize your dedication to the welfare of the Zimbabwean people and your efforts to promote national development and unity," Moyo said. "We pray for continued wisdom, guidance, and strength as you lead our nation. We wish you many more years of fruitful service to our great nation, Zimbabwe."
The CCA is a continental ecumenical and ecclesiastical body representing Apostolic, Zion, and Pentecostal churches across Africa.
