Maswerasei blasts Chamisa

Maswerasei blasts Chamisa
Published: 12 hours ago
Renowned political commentator and former military intelligence operative Never Maswerasei has publicly criticized opposition leader Nelson Chamisa, accusing him of abandoning his political responsibilities during a crucial period.

In a series of posts on his X account, Maswerasei argued that Chamisa won the 2023 elections but failed to safeguard his victory. He warned that Chamisa's inaction at key political moments undermined both his leadership and the broader opposition movement.

"Dear @nelsonchamisa: You outrightly won elections and you failed to ring fence the victory even when SADC was ready to act based on your most expected political move, which you didn't take," Maswerasei wrote. "Accept the consequences of your irresponsible leadership action at the most crucial moment."

Maswerasei further accused Chamisa of prioritizing personal politics over the interests of the people, saying, "When you've been granted the opportunity to lead people, you're supposed to lead – and not abandon them while the house was burning – as you did. Now that someone is trying to make a difference, you besmirch them because you have privatized opposition politics to yourself."

He also chastised Chamisa for dismissing calls for political change, describing the comment about the "Geza revolution" as immature and socially offensive. Maswerasei drew parallels to former South African president Thabo Mbeki's infamous remark that "there is no crisis in Zimbabwe," suggesting that such statements reflect arrogance and a lack of accountability.

Through his posts, Maswerasei emphasized the difference between strategic leadership and careless pride, insisting that true leaders must act decisively in times of political crisis to advance the cause of the oppressed.
