Zimbabwe govt extends companies re-registration deadline

Zimbabwe govt extends companies re-registration deadline
Published: 13 hours ago
The Government of Zimbabwe has extended the deadline for the re-registration of companies and other business entities to April 20, 2028, granting firms an additional two years to comply with statutory requirements.

The extension is outlined in Statutory Instrument 76 of 2026, published in the Government Gazette on April 17, 2026. The amendment revises the Companies and Other Business Entities Act regulations by replacing the initial deadline of April 20, 2026, with the new 2028 cutoff date.

Authorities said the re-registration exercise is part of broader efforts to align all businesses with modern legal standards aimed at strengthening corporate governance, transparency and accountability.

Under the law, companies are required to update critical registration details, including shareholding structures, directorship and other key corporate information, to ensure compliance.

The extension is expected to ease pressure on companies that had not yet completed the process, particularly small and medium enterprises and businesses transitioning from the informal sector.

Government has warned that entities failing to comply with the requirements risk being struck off the companies register.

Officials believe the additional time will improve compliance levels while allowing authorities to further streamline administrative processes linked to the nationwide exercise.

Businesses have been urged to take advantage of the extended deadline to regularise their operations and avoid last-minute challenges.
