Zanu-PF says it will expand its membership registration points at future exhibitions following what it described as overwhelming demand at the just-ended Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF).
The party's Director of Information and Publicity, Farai Marapira, said a total of 1,852 membership cards were issued during the week-long 66th edition of the trade showcase in Bulawayo.
"We issued 1,852 cards at the ZITF, and this clearly shows that the people of Zimbabwe are yearning to formally affiliate with the revolutionary party," Marapira said.
He noted that the high turnout exceeded expectations, with long queues forming at the party's stand in Hall 5 as attendees sought to register or renew their membership.
Officials described the response as unusual for a non-election period, prompting the party to reconsider its logistics ahead of future events.
Marapira said ZANU-PF is now planning to increase capacity by setting up multiple registration points at upcoming exhibitions and public gatherings.
Among the targeted events is the Harare Agricultural Show, where the party expects similar interest.
"The revolutionary party must be where the people are. We have heard their voice, and we are ready to expand," he said.
The move signals a push by the ruling party to strengthen grassroots mobilisation beyond traditional campaign cycles, leveraging high-traffic national events to grow its membership base.
