Warriors fans call for Nees' dismissal

The National Soccer Supporters Association has called for the immediate dismissal of Warriors coach Michael Nees, accusing the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) of failing the nation by retaining him despite a dismal run of results.

The German mentor has managed just two wins in 14 matches since his appointment, with six draws and six defeats, making him one of the least successful national team coaches in over four decades.

Adomsi Mukasi, vice president of the supporters' group, said the coach's continued stay was "daylight robbery" to football fans.

"We will now be going into tournaments with a weaker ranking and we will be paired against the big boys. ZIFA should know that Nees' continued stay as Warriors coach is a big disservice to the nation. It is daylight robbery to the fans," said Mukasi.

Former Warriors player and coach Gibson Homela echoed the sentiments, arguing that ZIFA had been too lenient with Nees and his technical team.

"They must all go. A local coach would not have been treated with kids' gloves like this. Two wins and six draws is below the mark," Homela said.

The Warriors' poor run under Nees has raised concerns about Zimbabwe's competitiveness in upcoming tournaments, with many fearing that continued underperformance will see the national team paired against stronger opponents in crucial qualifiers.
