ARDA board chairman Basil Nyabadza says all is set for the re-opening of the Chisumbanje ethanol plant on Monday following its closure 15 months ago.

The re-opening of the plant is anticipated to open more employment opportunities, ensure more revenue collection and import substitution.

In an interview with ZBC News, Mr Nyabadza assured the nation that all is on course for the re-opening of the plant on Monday, adding that the resumption of operations is set to unlock funding for phase two of the project.

The re-opening of the plant comes in the wake of a recent tour of the green fuel plant by Vice President Joice Mujuru who assured villagers in the area that the plant will be re-opened.

Cabinet recently approved a roadmap for the new ownership of the ethanol project, which is now understood it be waiting for scrutiny from the Attorney General’s office.

The introduction of a 5% mandatory blending for petrol will ensure that the country saves an estimated US$2 million monthly in imports.
