Published: 30 September 2013
Air Zimbabwe's 'Cruising Altitude Promotion' which was extended from the July 31 deadline to 30 September is coming to an end.

The promotion will now run till  30 September, 2013 and there has been no communication from Air Zimbabwe if the promotion will be extended beyond this deadline. The airline also revealed that the flight to London will resume on November 15, 2013.

Harare to Bulawayo  return  ticket was going for $105. The Harare to Victoria Falls return ticket was set at $180 while the Harare to Johannesburg  as well as the Bulawayo to Johannesburg return ticket was $275.

The pricing promotion, which ran concurrently with an extensive restructuring and transformation exercise, is widely seen as an attempt to lure back customers who had conveniently switched to other airlines.

In an interview, Air Zimbabwe spokesperson Shingai Taruvinga said the company's load factor had improved significantly following the promotion.

"The promotion has so far been successful hence we have doubled our domestic frequencies. We want the public to always consider flying as their best means of transport," said Taruvinga.

"Most importantly we want everyone to get used to flying and get to experience the efficiency and reliability of the airline as we are leaving on time for all our flights as compared to the past so that our customers do not hesitate to travel with us."

The promotion offered Zimbabweans an opportunity to be able access air travel, which gives them convenience, more time management as well as safety.

The promotion also decongested the Beitbridge Border Post.

At the launch of the promotion, the national airline said it wanted to demystify flying and has been able to achieve that by opening doors to all Zimbabweans from all walks of life to fly at cheaper rates.

The promotion came after the national airline acquired an Airbus A320 and Embraer ERJ145 jet aircraft to augment its fleet.
