Tourism and Hospitality Industry Deputy Minister Walter Kanhanga has relaunched TA Holdings latest offering - Cresta Sprayview - after a $1.6 million upgrade at the Victoria Falls hotel.

The funds were largely spent on rooms and public spaces. The hotel has 60 rooms, 3 suites and 2 family rooms in addition to 2 bars, a conference centre and boardroom.

The group last November acquired a contract to lease and manage the Sprayview Hotel in Victoria Falls, a popular resort town previously not covered by Cresta.

Cresta group chief executive officer Glenn Stutchbury recently said the company was focusing on having a product that competes with international brands.

"It's an exciting new era," he said during a tour of the group's properties recently.

"Refurbishment at the Cresta Lodge is in progress with the new Sango Conference Centre having been opened last October. We also opened our first new block of fully refurbished rooms in February. The new sleek modern rooms offer the Cresta customer all the comforts of a home. We have channeled about $7 million towards the refurbishment of our hotel portfolio so we want to have a quality product that competes with international brands. The entire hotels will be completed by August," Stutchbury said.

Cresta lodge has completed renovations of 171 rooms with 32 more rooms to go.

Through the refurbishment, rooms will have laminate floors and all beds will be convertible to twin or king size.

The addition of Cresta Sprayview to the Cresta group of hotels brings the number of hotels under its management in Zimbabwe to five, with combined rooms of 491 spread across Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls.

Stutchbury said that the new 64-room Cresta Mahalapye Hotel and Conference centre in Botswana which opened its doors in February would be equipped with modern amenities.

"This is an exciting opportunity for us to introduce this world class hotel in this town, which has such a rich history to the business and leisure traveler. The hotel will be fully equipped with all latest amenities and will be able to offer conferencing facilities for up to 200 people," he said.
