Seven employees, including a manager, were seriously injured after a gas tank exploded in a mine tunnel at Freda Rebecca Mine on Tuesday.

Some of the seven were taken to Bindura Provincial Hospital before being transferred to a hospital in Harare.

Although the details were still sketchy by yesterday, sources said the explosion occurred while the employees were working in a mine tunnel in the afternoon.

Investigations to ascertain the cause of the explosion are still in progress.
