ONE of the country's leading life assurance and short-term insurance player, Zimnat through its joint venture (JV) with Botswana's leading funeral services provider, FSG Limited has invested over $5 million towards starting a funeral services firm in Zimbabwe.

Zimnat Life Assurance head of marketing Ms Shingirai Mazambani said the new funeral service provider, FSG Zimbabwe has increased its services portfolio.

"We are delighted that we have this JV with FSG Limited from Botswana. This will enhance and offer our stakeholders extended benefits in the form of defined funeral services.

"Total investment in this JV is above $5 million and we are opening the first two branches currently (Bulawayo and Harare), we will spread across Zimbabwe in the next two years," said Ms Mazambani.

FSG Limited Group also has regional presence in South Africa and Zambia. As a funeral service provider the company has vast experience in the international funeral arena spanning over 25 years.

The company, through its wholly-owned subsidiaries, namely FSG Manufacturing (Proprietary) Limited t/a Lyn's Funeral Parlour, FSG Services (Proprietary) Limited, t/a Kagiso Funeral Parlour, FSG Assurance (Proprietary) Limited, FSG Properties (Proprietary) Limited, FSG (Zambia) Limited (a company registered in Zambia), Botswana Funeral Services Group (Proprietary) Limited (a company registered in South Africa), carries on the principal business activity of manufacturing and retail of coffins and caskets, provision of funeral-related services and provision of funeral insurance in partnership with Botswana Life Insurance Limited. The company has another wholly owned subsidiary namely Private Cemeteries (Proprietary) Limited that is engaged in the business of establishing and managing private cemeteries in Botswana.

"With this footprint we are able to offer services not only in Zimbabwe but in the region at large. Regional and international access to market trends and state-of-the-art infrastructure together with cutting edge technology will be the differentiating factor. These, among other factors, will make FSG Zimbabwe the nation's preferred funeral services provider," said Ms Mazambani.

The company has started operations but its offices will be officially opened in January next year.
