Ethiopian Airlines's 787 Dreamliner for Vic Falls

Ethiopian Airlines has maintained its confidence in Victoria Falls as a destination with the deployment of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner which has become the second wide bodied scheduled aircraft to service Victoria Falls International Airport.

Leading airline group on the continent Ethiopian Airlines which is among the eight regional and international airlines servicing the Victoria Falls route is bullish of the continued rebound of Zimbabwe as a tourism destination.

The airline has deployed the state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner which is famous for its superior design and efficiency to service the Victoria Falls route.

The aircraft was accorded the traditional water canon salute.

The airlines' traffic and sales manager Mr Tilahun Alemyehu said there are plans to ensure that the bigger aircraft is deployed on a regular basis and expressed confidence in the continued rebound of the destination.

Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) Director Airports Mr Tawanda Gusha said it is pleasing that the airport is leaving up to its billing as a game changer and is confident the increase in passenger traffic will impact positively on the performance of the tourism industry.

Tourism officials who graced the event described the development as another sign of confidence in Victoria Falls as a competitive tourism destination.

Passenger traffic at the upgraded Victoria Falls International Airport continues on an upward trend with total arrivals reaching 49 979 during the first two months of the year, a 34 percent jump from the 37 333 passengers received during the same period in 2017.
