Dairibord Zimbabwe Limited (DZL) has crossed the 20-million-litre threshold in milk intake, a milestone attributed to proactive management strategies and expanded engagement with farmers across the country.

Speaking during the presentation of the company's half-year performance, DZL board chairman Norbert Chiromo said milk intake rose by 3.7%, from 19.6 million litres to 20.3 million litres, accounting for 38% of national production.

"The milk supply development unit continues to recruit new producers, including small and medium-scale farmers, to meet growing demand. The group achieved an 18% growth in overall sales volume, with food sales up 18%, driven by strong yoghurt and tomato sauce performance," Chiromo said.

National raw milk production also grew 3.9% year-on-year, from 55.1 million litres to 57.3 million litres. DZL's beverages segment posted a 28% increase, buoyed by strong performance from-PFuko and Cascade, alongside a recovery in tea sales due to improved availability. Liquid milk volumes recorded modest growth of 1%.

As of 30 June 2025, DZL reported total assets of US$53.84 million, up from US$53.49 million in December 2024, while total liabilities decreased to US$27.67 million from US$28.54 million. Equity attributable to ordinary shareholders rose to US$26.16 million, compared to US$24.95 million previously.

Revenue for the half-year reached US$64.32 million, an 18% increase from the same period in 2024, while profit before tax surged 51% year-on-year to US$2.08 million, helped by lower finance costs. Basic and diluted earnings per share stood at US$0.34 cents. Retained earnings increased to US$16.28 million from US$15.07 million, although no dividend was declared for the period.

Chiromo said the results reflect DZL's commitment to strengthening supplier relationships, expanding production capacity, and driving growth across the food and beverage segments despite challenging industry conditions.
