Executive Director: The Sexual Rights Centre

The Sexual Rights Centre, based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe in a Non-Governmental Organisation which promotes and protects the rights of marginalised persons and groups in select communities of Zimbabwe. It seeks to improve the quality of life of key populations by advocating for an inclusive legal environment, and change to equal access to social services, health care and economic opportunities to address stigma and societal attitudes towards these marginalised groups.

Key purpose
This person will be responsible for the overall management of the organisation’s finance and administration and programmes.

Key performance areas
Managing of the organisation’s Secretariat to shape and guide the achievement of the organisation’s vision, mission and goals; Developing, maintaining and managing the relationships with donors, funding partners, board members and strategic and collaborative stakeholders; Conducting thorough due diligence including critical analysis of proposals, budgets and work plans; Giving technical and oversight support to the organizational staff on local, national, regional and international programmes to meet all compliance issues; Leading in strategic planning, designing and implementation of  programmes for the realization of rights of marginalised communities and Rights Holders; Supervising staff and overseeing all administrative and human resource needs such as performance management; Contribute to cross-office learning and strategy development; Providing technical oversight on organizational financial procedures and management; Managing, growing and sustaining the profile of the organisation through public presentations, media work, lobbying and advocacy; Fundraising, building and maintaining organizational resource base and donor support; Developing strategic networks and partnerships for the purposes of building alliances and shaping the organisation’s goals

Required skills and experience
Undergraduate degree with a post graduate (Masters) degree in preferably public health, development studies or relevant field being an added advantage; Strong technical background with at least five years’ work experience with a success record in a similar post being advantageous; Knowledge of best practices and current developments in HIV/TB and sexual reproductive health; A sound track record in programme and human resource management; Experience in working with marginalised and vulnerable groups and communities; Excellent budgeting, financial management and  resource mobilization; Strong work ethic and ability to be flexible and adaptable to change; Computer literacy and proficiency; Sound relationship building skills and ability to collaborate on internal teams as well with external stakeholders and partners; Good background knowledge of NGO and Government policy and operations; A valid passport; Clean Class 4 driver’s licence.

Salary and benefits
Remuneration package will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
