Increased regional trade contributed to Zim's tourist arrivals

The ZTA reports that increasing regional trade and commerce have contributed immensely to the growth of arrivals in the country.

Zimbabwe recorded a 12 percent increase in tourist arrivals in the first half of 2013. The arrivals improved from 767 393 last year to 859 995 in the period in question. Generally, tourist arrivals in most parts of the world are on the increase despite the global economic challenges.

According to data released by the UNWTO, international tourist arrivals grew by 5 percent during the first half of 2013 compared to the same period of 2012, reaching almost 500 million.

The growth was above the average 4 percent projection that the world tourism body made at the beginning of the year.
