The government says illegal land occupants in the capital risk prosecution if found guilty of failing to follow local government by-laws.

The Minister of State for Harare Province, Miriam Chikukwa, said people who are occupying land illegally in and around the city will face the wrath of the law.

The Minister also said those who want land must make applications through the Harare City Council.

The Zanu-PF Harare province chairman, Amos Midzi said while his party desires that every Zimbabwean must have access to land, the process must be guided by the by-laws of the councils which fall under the local government ministry.

Zanu-PF is working in consultation with the office of the Minister of State for the Harare metropolitan province and says all party members who seek land must abide by the laws of the country.
