At least 81 companies received awards for being tax compliant during the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority's taxpayer appreciation day held in Harare yesterday.

The winners included major remitters of tax in the large and Small to Medium Enterprises categories, and the customs and excise category which was sub categorised into top Value Added Tax, Pay as You Earn and Income tax remitters. There were two other categories to honour the highest contributors and highest growth rate achievers in the customs and excise environment and domestic taxes environment.

Winners were selected from Zimra's four regional branches in the country namely Harare Region 1, Bulawayo Region 2, Masvingo Region 3 and Beitbridge Region 4.

The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe was the best VAT contributor in Region 1 the large clients category while Group Five International was number two and British America Tobacco was on number three.

Leading Region 2 in the VAT category was Portland Holdings followed by Treger Products (Pvt) Ltd and JR Goddard Contracting (Pvt) Ltd.

In the Region 3, Bata Shoe Company was the best with Mutare Bottling Company coming second while the third prize went to Sino
