CHIPINGE Town will get a major facelift when the construction of a $7 million two-storey complex gets underway early next year.

The construction of the building, which is being funded and spearheaded by the National Social Security Authority, is expected to be complete by the end of next year.

In an interview early this week, Chipinge District Administrator Mr Edgars Seenza confirmed the development, saying the complex will be constructed at Chipinge Town Park, opposite Chipinge Hotel.

"The construction work of the $7 million project is set to start during the first quarter of the year next year.

"The building is expected to house supermarkets, business offices, hardware and software retailers, restaurants and banks, among others.

"It will certainly add glamour to our small town.

"In fact, it is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

"It will be constructed at Chipinge Town Park.

"It will be situated at that area opposite Chipinge Hotel and adjacent to Chipinge Council Town House," said Mr Seenza.

Mr Seenza said the construction of the property would create employment for the locals.

"The other good thing about this development is that it will create employment for the locals.

"Plans are that labour will not be outsourced from other areas outside Chipinge, unless there is really need to do so," he added.

Meanwhile, the Chipinge District Administrator who painted a bright future for the south-eastern farming town, also confirmed the ongoing water reticulation system refurbishment exercise.

"Currently, the water situation has slightly got better, but there is room for more improvement. The good thing is that there are efforts to improve the situation.

"We are upgrading the water reticulation system and we sincerely hope that it will see us residents having vastly improved supplies of water in their homes.

"Apart from the issue of water reticulation system refurbishment, we are also excited that the local authority managed to acquire state-of-the-art road maintenance equipment and that is expected to improve the state of our roads," said Mr Seenza.
