ZBC board holds first meeting
Published: 17 March 2014
The new Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) Board held its first meeting on Monday at Pockets Hill in Harare, with focus on revamping the national broadcaster.

All board members comprising the Chair, Father Gibson Munyoro, Dr Ndabezinhle Dlodlo, Ms Phyllis Johnson, Mr Gelfand Kausiyo, Mr Donald Khumalo, Ms Joyce Jenje-Makwenda, Dr Charity Manyeruke, Ms Rudo Mudavanhu, Dr Cleopatra Matanhire-Mutisi, Mr Blessing Rugara and Mr Pritchard Zhou, attended the meeting, which is the first after its appointment in mid-February.

Speaking after the meeting, Father Munyoro said they are waiting for the final outcome of the forensic audit being done at the national broadcaster, before chatting the way forward.

ZBC was placed under forensic audit following financial problems that hit the national broadcaster last year when workers went for six months without pay.

This new board replaced the previous one headed by former PSMAS boss, Cuthbert Dube, which was fired by the Minister of Media, Information and Broadcasting Services, Professor Jonathan Moyo for bad corporate governance.

The Minister also sent the corporation's CEO, Mr Happison Muchechetere and General Manager,  Rtd Brigadier Elliot Kasu on forced leave, before KPMG was appointed to carry out a comprehensive forensic audit on the national broadcaster.

KPMG started the audit in the beginning of this month, and was given 30 days to conclude the exercise.
