CZI congress roars into life

The Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries congress roars into life today in Mutare with several manufacturing company executives expected to congregate for brainstorming on the future of industry. The annual congress running until Friday under the theme "Taking Zimbabwe Industry To The Next Level", will see local and international speakers presenting papers to the delegates.

Minister of Industry and Commerce Michael Bimha will be the guest speaker while other speakers include Norwegian economist Prof Dr Erik Reinert who has written extensively on issues of innovation, economic development, and the history of economic thought and policy.

Having owned and managed a manufacturing company with production in three different European countries, Prof Reinert's book "How Rich Countries Got Rich…And Why Poor Countries Stay Poor" has been published in 18 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Korean, and Russian.

Other speakers include the permanent secretary for Transport and Infrastructural Development Mr Munesushe Munodawafa, Mr Patrick Meyepa, who has worked in the freight and logistic industry for the past 23 years and Brigadier General (Retired) David Chiweza the founder of "Zimboscan Industrialize", a private think-tank.

Principal, Kwekwe Polytechnic Mr Joyce Mbudzi will speak on Structural and Technological Barriers and How To Address Them For The Successful Implementation Of Zim Asset while Director of Energy and Information Logistics and energy consultant Engineer Francis Masawi will speak on Industry Strategies To Reduce Cost Of Power, As Well As Enhancing Availability.
