Cross borders told not to spend loan on luxuries

Potential beneficiaries of the $15 million RBZ cross border entrepreneurship facility have been warned against spending their business start up pack on luxuries.

Modalities for disbursement of the $15 million facility have since been worked out by responsible authorities who are also in the process of carrying out outreach programmes to educate cross border traders on the availability of the facility.

Zimbabwe Cross Borders Association President, Killer Zivhu and some government officials from relevant ministries this Tuesday took the outreach programme to Kadoma.

Zivhu said while the $15 million facility is meant to capacitate cross border traders financially to stimulate growth of their businesses, beneficiaries should be wary of spending their loans on luxuries.

He described the RBZ's move to avail funding for cross borders at a concessionary 1 percent interest rate as an excellent way of empowering women who constitute the majority in that particular sector.

A selected few cross borders will be taken on trips to China and Turkey to acquaint them with sources for most of the products that find their way into the Zimbabwean market.
