ZIMBABWE's industries have proposed the establishment of measures to shield them from foreign competition in State tenders.

A draft local content policy being discussed by Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) members indicates that companies have started preparing for an improved business climate, which could usher in competition from foreign firms.

CZI says the proposed measures should be backed by legal instruments, with one suggestion saying foreign firms should invest at least five percent equity in a local partner to be granted tenders.
