Zimbabwe to expedite registering of companies

Zimbabwe will expedite the process of registering companies in line with the provisions of a new bill that seeks to improve the investment climate.

In the past it used to take several months before a company would be registered by relevant authorities, however, amendments to the companies and other entities bill are likely to results in Zimbabwe clearing project proposal within a short period of time.

Speaking at a CEO Africa Roundtable breakfast meeting, Speaker of the National Assembly Advocate Jacob Mudenda said though the new companies and other entities bill is currently before the parliament, it will address the ease of doing business and corporate governance issues through e registration of companies and decentralisation of the companies registry offices across the country.

CEO Africa Roundtable chairman Mr Ozwell Binha said necessary legal framework and wise investments will enable economic progress.

Zimbabwe is coming up with a raft of ease of doing business reforms that are expected to restore business confidence and increase foreign direct investment inflows which were averaging $500 million in the past few years, yet regional economies were attracting projects worth $2.5 billion per year.
