President Emmerson Mnangagwa has officially opened the Water Resources Infrastructure Investment Conference in Harare under the mantra 'Unlocking Water Resources Potential for Economic Development'.

The opening ceremony coincided with the launch of the National Climate Policy.

Speaking during the launch, Mnangagwa said there are over 30 projects in need of funding, which investors can choose from.

Mnangagwa said the completion of the projects will yield over 70 billion cubic metres of water which will provide the nation with a buffer stock against drought.

The President first toured the stands which were displaying how water can be harnessed, treated and transported.

President Mnangagwa was accompanied by the Minister of Environment, Water and Climate Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri and several cabinet ministers.
