Power cuts worsen Bulawayo water rationing

Power cuts worsen Bulawayo water rationing
Published: 02 July 2019
THE water crisis in the second largest city is set to worsen after the local authority said the ongoing power challenges have grossly affected its pumping capacity.

The city council introduced a 36-hour water shedding regime in January. The water shedding was later moved up to the current 48-hours per week.

"The City of Bulawayo would like to advise residents that there will be an emergency water shedding citywide on Sunday, June 30, from 7am until the situation improves.

"This is due to challenges with the raw water pumping at Ncema Waterworks and Fernhill pump station due to power challenges. The city is currently working on raising the water levels in all reservoirs," town clerk Christopher Dube said in a statement.
