The Mucheke River Bridge in Masvingo, a critical component of the Harare-Beitbridge highway, is now 88% complete, the contractor Masimba Holdings Limited has reported.
The bridge is a major infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion in Masvingo's urban centre and surrounding suburbs, which has long been a challenge for both residents and travellers.
Masimba Holdings, which is overseeing the construction, said the project is on track for full completion by November, marking a significant milestone in efforts to improve transport efficiency along one of Zimbabwe's busiest routes.
Once completed, the Mucheke River Bridge is expected to play a crucial role in decongesting the city, facilitating smoother traffic flow, and supporting regional economic activities along the Harare-Beitbridge corridor.
