Simba Bhora has received a major financial boost ahead of their maiden appearance in the CAF Champions League, with Scotland FC president Scott Sakupwanya donating US$100,000 to support the Shamva-based club.

Sakupwanya, whose company Better Brands is Simba Bhora’s official sponsor, also pledged to cover players’ winning bonuses should the team progress to the second round of the continental competition.

The club will host the first leg of their preliminary round clash against Eswatini side Nsingizini Hotspurs FC at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown, Botswana, on Sunday, after their home ground failed to meet CAF standards. The return leg is scheduled in Eswatini the following weekend, with the aggregate winner advancing to the next stage.

Having qualified by finishing strongly in last season’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, Simba Bhora will be competing in Africa’s top club competition for the first time. The financial assistance from Sakupwanya is expected to ease logistical challenges and boost the team’s morale ahead of one of the biggest assignments in its history.
