Local internet service provider Dandemutande Investments has appointed Ms. Michèle Scanlon as its chief executive officer to lead the company in its next phase of growth.
Dandemutande is a wholly-Zimbabwean owned private company focusing on the provision of internet services to the wholesale, corporate and retail segments of Zimbabwe through two business units, utande and uMAX.
The appointment is effective from November 1 2013.
The company’s board chairman Mr Joe Mutizwa expressed confidence that Ms. Scanlon would take the company to new heights.
"We are pleased to welcome Michèle Scanlon as CEO of Dandemutande. She brings a wealth of international experience in growing new markets that will take Dandemutande to new heights as we embark on the next phase of expansion." he said.
She replaces Mr Russell Clinton, one of the founding members of Dandemutande, who stepped down in 2012 for health reasons.
Ms Scanlon has over 15 years of telecoms experience working across Africa. She was previously chief commercial officer of Mobitel, a WiMAX start-up in Nigeria, and was part of the advisory team to Dandemutande in 2012 that culminated in the successful launch of uMAX.
Prior to her role in Nigeria, Ms Scanlon worked in strategic consulting roles for leading telecoms operations and financial institutions looking to invest in the sector in Africa.
