Egyptair resumes Zimbabwe flights

Egypt's national carrier, Egyptair, resumes flights between Harare and Cairo in June after a nine year absence,  and is offering a 20 percent discount on ticket purchases between April 8 to 30 and travel between June 1 and 21. The airline will deploy a 144-seater Boeing 737-800 to make four weekly flights on the route starting June 1.

Egyptair chairman and chief executive Captain Roshdy Zakaria said the new service between Harare and Cairo via Dar es Salaam will connect to the entire Egyptair network in the Middle East, Far East and Europe.

"This new service comes as part of Egyptair network expansion plan which enhances our presence as a main gateway to the world," said Captain Zakaria.

"This service will also increase our points in Africa to 19 destinations in addition to five more destinations via its code-share agreements."

Captain Zakaria said their aircraft will allow their customers to enjoy many new innovative services, as the business class, which provides 24 seats, has a personal entertainment system displayed on wide screens. The economy class, with 120 seats, accommodates wider seat pitch.

In terms of luggage, Captain Zakaria said they apply a premium piece concept of two pieces each weighing 23kg on economy and 32kg on business class in addition to their on-board 7kg baggage.

"Moreover, customers joining our Frequent Flyer programme and Egyptair Plus will enjoy many special benefits and services such as the priority check-in, priority boarding, upgrading class of travel against miles and free tickets against miles in addition to getting 1 000 extra bonus miles

when flying on the new service until June 21.

"In addition to this, the gold card holders will have access to more than 1 000 lounges around the globe and premium services on-board 27 Star Alliance member reaching more than 1 329 destinations around the globe," he said.
