ADB commits to African development

The African Development Bank (ADB) is committed to ensuring that the continent attains economic development.

The bank's Senior Director in charge of special projects, Dr Sipho Moyo made the remarks during the Dr Joshua Nkomo memorial lecture in Gwanda.

The memorial lecture, which was held at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnical College in Gwanda, was in honour of the rich legacy of leadership, personal sacrifice, patriotism and national reconstruction demonstrated by the late Father Zimbabwe.

Delivering the lecture titled: 'The Africa We Want,' Dr Moyo paid tribute to Dr Nkomo, President Robert Mugabe and other Pan-Africanists for ushering the continent to political freedom.

Dr Moyo pledged the financial institution's commitment to complimenting the economic development agenda being pushed in the continent.

Event sponsor, Big Time Strategic Group CEO, Mr Justice Maphosa urged Zimbabweans to continue preserving the legacy of Dr Nkomo.

The 2017 inaugural Joshua Nkomo Memorial Lecture series have also been lined up for Wits University in South Africa and Oxford in London to celebrate the 100th posthumous birthday of Father Zimbabwe.

The lectures that are being organised by the Joshua Nkomo Cultural Movement are being run under the theme:  'Joshua Nkomo at 100: A Reflection on Ethical Leadership for Africa's Economic Development.'
