Academics and the business sector in Masvingo have expressed confidence in the newly sworn in cabinet and spelt out their expectations from the team.

According to the academics, the new ministers should come up with think tanks comprised of knowledgeable individuals to help them turn around the economy.

The academics commended the President for coming up with what they termed a democratic technocracy type of a cabinet.

"I think these new ministers should surround themselves with think tanks, people who will help them to efficiently execute their duties. That is the model that is being used in other countries and it can help us," said Professor Munashe Shoko, an agriculture consultant.

"I want to commend the President for such a cabinet which is a democratic technocracy, including all races and we believe the team can deliver and we want them to deliver as soon as yesterday," said Mr Jowere Mukusha, a philosopher and economic analyst.

Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce Masvingo Chapter Interim Chairman, Mr Andrew Chekani said as business, they expect the new government to prioritise the construction of the Beitbridge - Masvingo - Harare - Chirundu highway.

"We expect that the new government to please prioritise the road, it affects a lot of aspects of business," he said.

The consensus among those interviewed was that the new cabinet should hit the ground running.
