Fastjet Zimbabwe is strengthening its regional network with the launch of an additional daily frequency between Johannesburg and Harare, aimed at catering to business travellers.

Effective 29 September 2025, the airline will introduce an early morning departure from Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport at 06:55, arriving in Harare at 08:40. The return leg will leave Harare at 19:00, giving travellers the flexibility of a full business day in the Zimbabwean capital. The service, operated with Fastjet's Embraer ERJ145 aircraft, will run daily except Saturdays.

Announcing the development at the Sanganai Hlanganani Tourism Expo, Fastjet officials said the move is in direct response to growing demand for convenient same-day connections.

"We are always looking at providing our customers with flexible flight times to better suit their travel needs. In the past months, we have witnessed a growing demand from businesspeople for an early morning departure from Johannesburg to Harare. Our Fastjet flight FN8220 now allows our customers an early morning departure from Johannesburg, resulting in a full business day in Harare," said Vivian Ruwuya, Fastjet Zimbabwe's chief commercial officer.

The expansion comes on the back of other recent network enhancements. In April, Fastjet introduced a thrice-weekly service between Harare and Lusaka, Zambia. More recently, the airline launched flights linking Victoria Falls and Bulawayo four times a week.

Privately owned and steadily growing, Fastjet Zimbabwe has positioned itself as a key regional connector, with the Johannesburg–Harare corridor remaining one of its busiest and most competitive routes.
