Mnangagwa's birthday is not a Public holiday

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Nick Mangwana, has dismissed calls to treat President Emmerson Mnangagwa's birthday as a public holiday, urging citizens to report to work as usual.

Mangwana confirmed that the so-called "Munhumutapa Day," observed on 15 September, is not recognised as an official holiday. "For those who are inquiring, please note that Monday, 15 September is NOT a holiday. See you at work," he stated.

The clarification comes amid speculation that Mnangagwa intended for Zimbabweans to celebrate his birthday in a manner similar to the late former President Robert Mugabe's National Youth Day, formerly observed on 21 February.

Authorities have reaffirmed that no official public holiday has been declared in connection with the president's birthday, and businesses, schools, and government offices are expected to operate normally.
