Industrials records modest losses in mixed trades

ZSE's Industrials recorded modest losses on Tuesday as heavyweight counters traded mixed while a few selected counters attracted remarkable interest from buyers.

The Industrials Index eased a marginal 0.08 points or 0.04% to 209.02 with Innscor trading amongst the top fallers on the market while other heavyweights, Delta, Econet and OK Zimbabwe dosed unchanged.

Innscor dropped 2c or 2.38% to 82c while cigarette manufacturer BAT, dropped 100c or 8.33% to 1100c.

Other blue chips Delta, Econet and OK Zimbabwe remained stable at 35c, 60c and 26c respectively. SeedCo also remained stable at 99c ahead of its EGM tomorrow.

Heavyweights to record gains were Hippo which added 0.90c or 0.81 % to 112c while Old Mutual closed 2.57% firmer at 255.01c.

Counters attracting buyers were Astra, which led the day's risers after adding 0.80c or 20% to4.8c, Dawn Properties which closed 0.10c firmer at 1.4c, its 52-week best level and Masimba 0.40c firmer at 5.6c.

Other counters to trade in the green were TSL, Padenga and African Sun which added 6.36%, 4.94% and 5.77% each to 35.1c, 8.5c and 2.75c in that order.

Cement manufacturer Lafarge gained 0.50c or 0.43% to 115.5c while ZPI gained 9.09% to 1.2c.

Turnall led the top fallers, easing 0.50c or 10% to 4.5c while bankers Barclays traded 2.33% weaker at 4.2c.

Pearl Properties closed unchanged at 3c in significant deals worth about $452 000.

The Minings Index closed unchanged at 47.48 as Hwange traded amongst the top 5 gainers, adding 0.90c or 8.11% to 12c with no activity in other mining counters.

Market turnover eased to $1.202 million on a volume of 18.73 million shares from yesterday's $2,034 million on a volume of 1042 million shares.

The Zfn board was also largely mixed with 5 of the 12 sectoral indices dosing in the red and the other 4 managing significant gains.

The Datvest All Share Index was 0.28 points or 0.20% weaker at 139.66 while the heavyweight's measure, the FBC ZSE-10 Index dropped 0.84 points or 0.58% to 144.76.

Other sectors recording notable gains were the Dual Listed (+2.02%), the Mining Index (+2.53%), the Property Index (+2.83%) and the Tourism Index (+2.51%).
