ZSE shares falter, volumes remained low

ZSE shares closed faltered on Tuesday with losses recorded in heavyweights Delta and RioZim.

Volumes remained low with the total market turnover closing at $285 846 on a volume of 958 810 shares only against yesterday's $438 609 on a volume of 3.012 million shares.

The Industrials Index eased 0.55 points or 0.29% to 191.96 as heavily capitalised counter Delta traded on the downside.

Heavyweight Delta dropped 1c or 0.79% to 126c while conglomerate Innscor gained 1c or 1.33% to 76c as its subsidiary Natfoods added 5c or 2.56% to 200c.

Other blue-chips Econet and OK Zimbabwe closed unchanged at 61c and 19c respectively.

The Minings Index also eased 1.16 points or 3.34% to 33.61 as RioZim led the top fallers across the board, shedding 8c or 26.67% to 22c cancelling gains in Hwange which closed as the top riser, advancing 1c or 16.67% to 7c amid reports that the colliery company has secured $11 million from the Export-Import Bank of India for the acquisition of plant and machinery.

Barclays gained 0.19c or 4.74% to 4.2c ahead of its finals and analysts briefing scheduled for 3pm this afternoon. Zimplow Holdings traded 0.02c or 15 firmer at 2.02c.

Other top fallers, Masimba eased 0.9c or 18% to 4.1c while ABC dropped 4c or 6.78% to 55c. ZPI eased 0.05c or 4.76% to 1c while Meikles traded 1c or 4.55% weaker at 21c.

Tourism counter African Sun traded 0.1c or 3.85% softer at 2.5c while TSL dropped 1c or 2.7% to 36c. Bankers CBZ eased a marginal 0.01c or 0.07% to 15c.
