Preparations for the 103rd Harare Agricultural Show have reached an advanced stage with over 70 percent of exhibition space having been booked, the Zimbabwe Show Society has said.

The five-day annual exhibition, which runs from August 23 to 27 this year, seeks to promote the agriculture sector.

In an interview, ZAS public relations manager Ms Heather Madombwe said various local and foreign companies had already confirmed their participation.

"Both local and foreign companies have indicated their willingness to take part at the show," she said.

The Exhibition Park, which is the venue for the show, has about 780 commercial, industrial and agricultural stands.

Ms Madombwe said the society was working with service providers who included the Harare City Council, Zesa Holdings and the Zimbabwe Republic Police to ensure everything was in place ahead of the show.

"I encourage companies to take advantage of the show to maximise on their marketing and sales," she said.

She said countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa and Zambia had since confirmed their participation.

This year's show would run under the theme "Environmental, Entrepreneurial and Educational."

Last year, Lesotho Prime Minister Thomas Thabane officially opened the show while on a three-day State visit.
