Local industry has secured a €3 million grant for two and half years beginning February from the European Union to be supervised by the International Trade Centre.

The grant will finance projects in line with the national priorities as well as support trade and private sector development.

The grant is also expected to support the implementation of the interim Economic Partnership agreement (i-EPA) between the EU and the Eastern and Southern Africa and Indian Ocean (ESA-IO) Region ratified by Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Mauritius and Seychelles.

Speaking at the official launch of the grant in Harare Friday, ITC enterprise competitiveness section chief Jack Charbonneau said the grant would assist private sector access EU markets.
