Zimbabwe Revenue Authority has announced a major customs rummage sale at Beitbridge Border Post, where more than 20 vehicles and a wide range of confiscated goods will be auctioned next week.
The auction, which will be conducted by ABC Auctions from May 27 to 29, will take place through the company's online bidding platform.
Among the vehicles listed for sale are a 2006 BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne, Toyota HiAce minibuses, Nissan Caravan minibuses, Toyota Regius vehicles, Mazda MPVs, Chevrolet sport utility vehicles, trucks and trailers.
Zimra said some vehicles will be payable in Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG), while others, particularly luxury and high-value models such as the Porsche Cayenne and certain BMW vehicles, must be paid for in United States dollars.
The auction will also feature assorted seized goods including wheelbarrows, hose pipes, PVC pipes, solar lights, porcelain tiles, cables and construction materials.
According to the notice, successful bidders will be required to complete payment within 48 hours after the close of bidding and collect purchased goods within a further 48 hours after payment confirmation.
Authorities also announced another customs rummage sale scheduled for June 24 to 26 at Beitbridge Border Post.
The auctions come amid intensified inland checkpoint operations by Zimra along major highways including the Beitbridge-Gwanda and Bulawayo-Plumtree routes, where goods suspected to have bypassed customs procedures have reportedly been confiscated.
