Over 20 Countries for ZITF

Companies from over 20 countries are expected to participate at this year's Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), whose preparations are already in full swing. The 55th edition of the annual trade showcase will run from April 22 to 26 at the exhibition centre in Bulawayo under the theme: "New ideas to new heights."

"Twenty-one foreign nations have expressed interest so far which compares favourably with last year's closing total of 16," said ZITF chairman, Bekithemba Nkomo.

"Eleven of these have actually reserved stands namely Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malawi, Mozambique, Poland, South Africa and Zambia."

Nkomo said despite the change of the previously advertised dates of May 6 to 10, most exhibitors have maintained they were still coming to the fair.

"Most of our visitors will be on board, though some are still to confirm; there hasn't been a major disruption to the event," he said. He explained that market response to the jamboree was also positive with over 80 percent of the available exhibition space having already been taken.

Net exhibition space available at ZITF is about 51 000 square metres including hall space, pavilions and external sites.

The trade fair will feature product groups such as: machinery and expertise for infrastructure development, manufacturing ideas, processes and equipment for innovation, automation and supplies for agro-processing, knowledge and services relevant to education and tourism and equipment and innovation to advance Information Communication Technologies (ICTs).

The fair last year closed at 94 percent capacity.
