Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has emphasised that true leadership is defined by purpose, not power, as he addressed members of the ruling ZANU PF at the launch of the Women's Empowerment Fund at the Harare International Conference Centre.

Chiwenga, who is reportedly engaged in a succession contest with President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, said transparency is the cornerstone of effective leadership. He made the remarks while inviting President Mnangagwa, the guest of honour, to the podium.

During the event, President Mnangagwa lauded Zimbabwean women for their resilience amid economic challenges, illegal sanctions, and the effects of climate change. He highlighted government efforts to invest in women's personal growth and development as a means of fostering sustainable community prosperity and national development.

The launch of the Women's Empowerment Fund forms part of a broader government initiative to support women economically, socially, and intellectually, reinforcing their role as drivers of transformation in households and communities across Zimbabwe.
