President Emmerson Mnangagwa has commissioned the multimillion-dollar Midlands Park Housing Project in Zvishavane, hailing it as a milestone in his administration's infrastructure development agenda.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony this afternoon, the President said the government's development drive was "irreversible," underscoring the importance of unity in nation-building.

"The modern structure we are unveiling today showcases what we can achieve as a country when we are united," he said.

President Mnangagwa commended the Public Service Commission (PSC) Pension Fund, which spearheaded the project, describing it as a model that should be replicated across provinces.

"I expect the performance template of the PSC Pension Fund to be replicated in other provinces with strategic focus," he added.

The President toured the new housing complex earlier in the day to assess its scope and benefits.

The $29 million project created over 3,000 jobs, with most of the workforce drawn from the local community. It comprises 28 residential blocks housing 56 families, along with four-storey student accommodation blocks providing 126 bedrooms for 750 students.

In addition, the development features modern amenities such as fitted kitchens and individually metered water tanks.

The PSC Pension Fund provided the bulk of the financing, making an initial injection of $16.5 million into the project.
