The Institute of Bankers of Zimbabwe (IOBZ) has secured international accreditation for its Banker's Diploma from the United Kingdom's Chartered Banker Institute, marking a major milestone for the country's banking profession.

Announcing the development during IOBZ's annual conference in Cape Town, vice chairman Elisha Chibvuri said the accreditation enables diploma holders to register for specialised programmes at Bangor University, including the Chartered Banker MBA, Financial Crime and Compliance MBA, Illicit Finance MBA, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Bank Management and Technology.

Chibvuri highlighted the institute's commitment to professional development, noting that over ten capacity-building workshops have been conducted to address skills gaps within member banks.

The conference, themed "Navigating the Bank of the Future, Today," also explores emerging trends such as artificial intelligence in banking, the future of card payments, AI-driven compliance tools, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) integration.

Chibvuri described the accreditation as a "significant milestone" for Zimbabwean bankers, reinforcing the sector's alignment with global standards.
