ZSE further extends gains ahead of harmonised elections

ZSE Industrials extended their gains with Minings recovering ahead of the harmonised elections tomorrow.

The Industrials Index gained 0.90 or 0.39% to 232.87 points buoyed by OK Zimbabwe which advanced 1.90c or 6.76% to 30c while Delta and Econet traded unchanged at 150c and 68c respectively.

Bluechip Innscor eased yet another 5c or 4.55% to 105c.

The Minings Index also gained 1.31 points or 2% to 66.77 points as Bindura added 0.06c or 5.26% to 2.5c while RioZim closed 2c or 5.26% firmer at 40c.

Daily market turnover closed slightly above the psychological $1 million value at $1.137 million on a volume of 5.836 million shares against yesterday's $1.464million on a volume of 4.352million shares.

Pelhams led the top risers, advancing 0.02c or 22.22% to 0.11c while FML gained 2c or 14.29% to 16c.

Turnall added 0.50c or 10% to 5.5c and Star Africa traded 0.09c or 8.11% firmer at 1.2c. Aico Africa gained 0.50c or 7.13% to 7.51c.

Other notable risers were bankers CBZ which rose by 0.80c or 5.63% to 15c and dual listed Old Mutual which picked up 2.91c to 239.01c.

ZHL led the top fallers, shedding 0.20c or 14.29% to 1.2c while Padenga eased 0.50c or 5.88% to 8c. Bankers ABC dropped 1c or 1.96% to 50c.

Fidelity closed sellers only at 14c amid reports that the Harare City Council has approved the servicing of Fidelity Life Limited's new Southview housing project following a nine-month negotiation period.

Zimpapers closed buyers only at 1c after reports that the firm will commission a US$2.2 million highly digitalised and efficient printing press next month.

Astra closed buyers and sellers only at 6c and 7c respectively in the wake of reports that new directors led by commercial lawyer Addington Chinake as chairman were appointed to the board of Astra Industries following the acquisition of the company's 63 percent by a local firm, Hemistar Investments.
