Fifteen Zimbabwean firms will participate at the 28th Trade Expo Indonesia next month to increase trade in various sectors of the economy.

The participation of Zimbabwean firms at this year's Indonesian Trade Expo emerged during the celebration of that country's national day in Harare.

The local business community and other diplomats attended the event.

In an interviews, the Indonesian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Eddy Poerwana said 15 Zimbabwean firms will participate at this year's expo with much focus on increasing trade volumes while diversifying to other sectors of the economy such as mining, industrial and agriculture.

"The economic ties between Zimbabwe and Indonesia are growing and we have been taking local firms for the Indonesia expo. This year we are taking 15 firms to the expo, though its a drop from last year's figures of 43, we are hopeful that a number of business deals will be transacted," said Ambassador Poerwana.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs  Christopher Mutsvangwa said Zimbabwean firms should take advantage of the existing economic ties between the two countries and exploit huge capital inflows from Indonesia in various sectors of the economy.

"Currently, Indonesia is importing tobacco from Zimbabwe, but as an emerging economy local firms should attract huge capital inflows from that country for the growth of the economy," said Mutsvangwa.

The 2013 trade expo Indonesia is slated for the 16th to the 29th of October.

Last year the expo attracted 5 000 buyers from over 90 countries and generated over $1 billion in total trade transactions.
